86th ANNUAL CHERRY GROWERS’ MEETING
SATURDAY, APRIL 13, 2024

9:00 a.m. Meeting Begins
Keynote speaker – Dr. Gary Grove, WSU Professor of Plant Pathology, will give an in-depth presentation on the etiology, epidemiology and management of powdery mildew which will include: symptoms and signs, mycological information about the pathogen, environmental factors affecting the disease, and fungicide information including resistance management. He will also talk about canker and dieback of cherry with results of a 2023 field survey, symptoms and diagnosis, and management via cultural practices.
Dr. Rachel Malison, Assistant Research Professor at Flathead Lake Biological Station and in the Ecology & Evolution Program at the University of Montana, will report on a program she has developed for FLBS’s Monitoring Montana Waters Program. Dr. Malison’s presentation will provide an introduction and explanation of the Pesticide Stewardship Partnership Program for the Upper Columbia River Basin.
Ryan Wilbur of People and Carnivores will provide current information on managing bear activity in orchards.
THE DAY INCLUDES information and announcements of interest to local cherry growers. Visit with Flathead and Lake County extension agents, and local agencies. Enjoy time to network with experienced Flathead cherry growers!
NOTE: The meeting has been approved for 3 applicator credits for Plant Pest Control category.
REGISTRATION IN ADVANCE IS RECOMMENDED. Fee includes morning refreshments and lunch.
